Hartford, KY — The City of Hartford is pleased to announce the launch of the Heart of Hartford Micro-Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2026–2027, an initiative designed to support local businesses in creating new events that bring people together, increase foot traffic, and strengthen the local economy.
Through this program, eligible businesses may receive up to $1,000 to support the development of new, community-focused events. Businesses may apply for funding to host one event ($500) or two events ($1,000). In addition to financial support, the City will provide promotional assistance, including a quarter-page newspaper advertisement, listing on HartfordKY.org, and coordinated social media promotion.
City officials emphasize that while these grants are modest, they are intended to be a meaningful step toward encouraging new ideas, supporting local businesses, and building momentum for continued community investment.
“We recognize that small businesses have carried significant challenges – this program is about supporting small, creative efforts that bring people together and highlight the strength and resilience of Hartford’s business community.” said Mayor Wright.
Applications open April 15, 2026, and will be accepted through May 30, 2026. Award notifications will be made by June 15, with eligible events taking place between July 1, 2026, and June 1, 2027.
Eligible applicants must be brick-and-mortar businesses located within Hartford city limits, in good standing, and proposing new events that have not been previously offered. Events must be hosted at the business location and designed to meaningfully engage the community.
Examples of eligible events include workshops, demonstrations, themed market days, arts or cultural events, and unique food or seasonal experiences. Full program guidelines and application requirements are available through the application link below.
Businesses selected for funding will be asked to submit a brief report within 30 days following their event, including photos and a summary of expenses.
