Haunt & Harvest Contestants Announced

Hartford, KY – Oct. 22, 2025 – Hartford is sparkling with spooky spirits and autumn charm as homes and businesses across the city take part in this year’s Haunt & Harvest Decorating Contest. From glowing jack-o’-lanterns and eerie entryways to rustic fall displays of golden gourds, residents have transformed porches, storefronts, and yards into festive showcases of creativity and community pride.

Participants have embraced the spirit of the season with a variety of imaginative themes. One contestant shared, “We’re doing a book-inspired autumn theme,” while another said they were “just going for a fun and colorful Halloween theme — spooktacular!” Others have taken a classic approach, describing their designs as “classic but fun spooky Halloween.”

Some entries bring a softer charm to the season. “My decoration design is more cutesy Halloween — I’m going for a spooky but inviting look,” said one participant. Another captured the playful side of the holiday with a whimsical scene featuring “Ms. Skeleton watching her kids play — Ghost and a Graveyard.”

Organizers say the creativity and community participation this year are outstanding. The displays range from family-friendly harvest scenes to delightfully spooky Halloween setups — all “spooky, not scary,” in keeping with the contest’s tradition of inclusive fun.

Judging takes place October 21–24, and winners will be announced October 25 on the Hartford, Kentucky Facebook page. Cash prizes are awarded in both residential and business categories: $200 for first place and $100 for second. Special recognition will also be given in the “Best Of” categories, including Spooktacular Lights (best lighting effects), Best Haunted Entryway, Harvest Harmony, and Rustic Charm Champion.

Residents are encouraged to tour the participating displays throughout town and enjoy the festive sights that make Hartford shine during this hauntingly cheerful season. Addresses of all entries are shared publicly on social media so that neighbors and visitors can take part in the fun.
