A new mural has been completed in downtown Hartford, bringing new life to a piece of the city’s history. The updated artwork is inspired by the original “Hartford” mural painted in the 1970s by students from Murray State University on the side of the former Schultz Menswear building.

The City of Hartford worked with Aaron Kizer, an artist based in Owensboro, and asked him to create a modern version. His design honors the past while offering a fresh take for today’s downtown landscape.
“Aaron really understood what we were looking for,” said a city representative. “We’re grateful he was able to bring this project to life.”
The new mural celebrates both Hartford’s history and the community’s ongoing efforts to improve and invest in downtown. Residents and visitors are encouraged to stop by, take a look, and snap a photo.
