Hartford, KY – The City of Hartford is excited to announce the return of its popular Golden Egg Hunt, reimagined this year as “The Derby Dash,” taking place May 1 through May 3, 2026.
A total of 12 Golden Eggs will be hidden throughout the city in public outdoor locations, inviting residents and visitors to join in a fun, Derby-themed community adventure. Each egg contains a Golden Ticket, offering participants the chance to win by locating and submitting their ticket before the deadline.
Where to Search
Golden Eggs may be hidden in the public areas – the list of locations will be published at 2pm on May 1st to hartfordky.org/news
Event Coordinator, Meredith Skaggs, shares that “Residents are excellent at seeking golden eggs and have historically not needed hints,” however, additional clues and updates will be shared on the City of Hartford’s Facebook page: Facebook.com/HartfordKY if any egg goes too long without being found.
How It Works
Golden eggs will be hidden in public locations (to be shared on May 1) for citizens to locate. Participants who find a Golden Egg should follow the instructions on the Golden Ticket. Provide the information listed and submit to Hartford City Hall by 3pm on May 3rd. Participants can submit during business hours or use the after-hours drop box.
Important Rules & Guidelines
- One Golden Ticket per household
- No photocopies or duplicate tickets will be accepted
- Tickets must include valid, legible contact information
- Winners will be notified via the phone number provided
- No trespassing – all eggs are hidden on public property only
- Eggs will be placed no higher than five feet above the ground
- This is a rain-or-shine event
- Participants assume all risks associated with the activity
Incomplete tickets or those missing authentication details will be disqualified.
